I advocated for our community with state legislators to support policies that enhance school safety and K-12 funding that now provides a living wage for our teachers and more opportunities for our students. Through collaboration with legislators and local business leaders, we developed a 2-year EP&O levy that DECREASED the local tax burden on homeowners.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you over the past four years. During my tenure, I have been proud to partner with my colleagues to invest in greater early learning opportunities and mental health counselors in all our middle and high schools, establish a dual-language elementary program, create policy to ensure equitable supports are provided to eliminate barriers to student achievement, and implement a seven-period schedule at Issaquah and Skyline high schools.
I worked with the Board to develop Executive Limitation 16 which is our equity policy that will ensure each student has equal opportunity to rigorous curriculum and necessary supports to be successful and career and college ready, regardless of whether a student lives within the Skyline, Issaquah, or Liberty feeder pattern
I promoted Early Learning in the Issaquah School District and look forward to watching a new preschool thrive. I have enjoyed attending the National P-3 Conference with a team from the Issaquah School District that included community partners. Early Learning is essential so that EVERY student enters kindergarten ready to learn. The foundational work of Early Learning will be critical to closing the achievement gap in our District and across the state.
I developed statewide legislative policies to improve school safety, fund smaller class sizes, increase capital construction funding, and broaden teacher recruitment through the Washington State School Directors' Association at Legislative Assembly & Conference
Partnerships are essential for our students' success! I worked this year as an Ex-Officio ISF Board member, as well as collaboration with the Parent Teacher Student Association council. Continuing to develop strategic partnerships with higher education and employers, will provide more opportunities for our students to graduate College and Career Ready and prepare each student for the 21st century economy!
